Another one of those crazy clone jobs!
To those who recognize the Monty Python connection (spoofing Canadian He-man Lumberjacks): yeah, you are right - while working on the piece, I couldn't get the song out of my head, so at your own peril, click this video link - the song might follow you around for a while, like it did me........
The thought behind it: It's a "What If" story - there are parasites on plants; in the Pacific rainforest you find so called nurse logs, where new sprouts grow in fallen and decaying logs; we are sometimes invaded by fungus diseases, so why not something larger; I am also thinking of a painting by Arik Brauer that shows a palm tree growing from a date seed in the pouch of a perished bedouin in the desert - so what if a seedling sprouted on my arm, like on a nurse log? It just couldn't wait, I guess ..... What If .......
The idea was in my head for years, wanted to paint it, but never did. So this is the next best thing - a PS job....
THE MYSTIC OTTO RAPP Born in 1944 in Felixdorf, Lower Austria, I lived and was educated in Vienna, where later I worked as a clerk in the Transport and Insurance Business. After completing service in the Austrian Air Force, I traveled throughout Europe, eventually settling in Stockholm, Sweden. As a Painter I was initially self taught, studying in the various Galleries and Museums. In Vienna, I was often hanging out at the Akademie der Bildenden Kuenste, where I admired the work of the Wiener Schule des Phantastischen Realismus represented there by the Professors Ernst Fuchs, Rudolf Hausner and Arik Brauer. In Stockholm, I found out that I was washing dishes in the very same Restaurant where years earlier another Viennese...

Thanks! I lived in Canada long enough (nearly 40 years) to fit the part! The landscape behind me is from Waterton Lakes National Park. Cheers Otto
